Lukas Maria Kuen has established an extremely distinguished and wide ranging career as a concert pianist. Having formed chamber music partnerships with many distinguished artists, he also enjoys orchestral playing and has been a member of the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks since 2010. 2015 he was invited to perform as a soloist with the orchestra under their late chief conductor Mariss Jansons. Lukas Maria Kuen joined the piano faculty of Munich University of Music as a professor in 2018.

He studied in Munich, graduating in piano, song recital accompaniment and chamber music under the tutorage of Michael Schäfer (piano) and Helmut Deutsch (song accompaniment). During the completion of his studies he attended masterclasses with Irwin Gage, Klaus Schilde, András Schiff and Menahem Pressler. 

Lukas Maria Kuen has also won recognition and prizes in several competitions, including ‘Prize for Best Pianist Achievement’ in the 2003 International Competition Franz Schubert and the Modern Music competition in Graz, Austria. He was awarded First Prize at the 2002 International Max Reger Competition, Weiden (1st prize and Audience Prize), the 2003 Wolfgang Jacobi Competition for Modern Chamber Music, the 2004 Alice Samter Competition for piano trio in Berlin, and at the 2000 Salomon Lindberg Competition Berlin (best song accompaniment).
